Current Information:Age-28 12 Pembridge Crescent, Notting Hill Born-Bromley HMS Ark Royal was a sea-plane carrier that had been involved in the Gallipoli campaign in 1915 both during the bombardment of the Turkish forts before the landings and during the actual landings themselves in April 1915. Vulnerable to U-boat attack she was withdrawn to Imbros where she acted as a depot ship. In October 1915 she was sailing to Malta when on the 14th October Flight Lieutenant Davis went missing, presumably having fallen overboard. Apart from his naval duties he was an inventor and a writer on tele-photography. |
